John Singer Sargent. Mrs. Henry White. 1883. Oil on canvas. The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, USA.
Great to see a John Singer Sargent painting – I love John Singer Sargent’s Madame X portrait painting. Andy Warhol was right about this guy; He really did make everyone look glamorous. The tragedy of the modern age is I guess if he were alive today he’d be doing photos of Lady Gaga for ‘Vanity Fair’.
Sargent also did some paintings in World War One – how about a series on war paintings?
I like the Madame X painting too. I think you’re right about Warhol and Gaga.
