  1. was surprised last night at FJ. (July 18, 2011)

“Of the four largest countries in Asia, name the only one that borders two of the others”

The correct question was “What is China?”

But Trebek never announced what the other three largest countries were.

That was not at all like him. What were the other three? I’m thinking India and Russia must be two. But what is the third?

The way that the Soviet Union broke apart and countries like Kazakhstan kept joining together, it could be most anything.

From Wikepedia: What are the 10 Largest Countries in Asia by physical size not population?

    1) China
    2) India
    3) Kazakhstan
    4) Saudi Arabia
    5) Indonesia
    6) Iran
    7) Mongolia
    8) Pakistan
    9) Turkey
    10) Myanmar

So, I guess it is Kazakhstan. But, look at the following map:…i=sq4lTvq-NcvpgAf_v9iCCA

You can plainly see that Russia borders both China and Kazakhstan. So, I guess for some reason, they are not counting Russia as an Asian coutry. There must be something to do with the fact that Russia is partly in Europe and partly in Asia?

China borders Russa, Kazakhstan and India.

What the heck is going on?

  2. AmyD says:

Didn’t the winner write “War & Peace”? Technically, not the title of the book but I don’t know how picky the Jeopardy! judges are these days…
